Wrong CVC, card locked
Why is my card restricted for online purchases?
If you enter an incorrect 3-digit Card Verification Value (CVC) 5 times in a row, your card’s online checkout functionality will be temporarily restricted for security reasons to protect you against potential fraud.
Can I unlock my card? How can I unlock my card to resume shopping?
Yes, you can unlock on your own. You no longer need to call Merchant Support/ Customer Support to unlock. The process:
- Log into your WorldFirst Web Portal.
- Go to Card Management and select the restricted card.
- Click “Unlock CVC” and complete the quick security verification (OTP) sent to your device.
- Note: You can only unlock the card once every 24 hours. If you have unlocked your card once, and you wrongly inputted the CVC 5 more times, you will have to wait for 24 hours for the card CVC to automatically be unlocked.
Can I unlock my card using the WorldFirst Mobile App?
No. The self-service unlock feature is only available on the web-based WorldFirst Portal.
What happens if I enter the wrong CVC again after unlocking it?
- To keep your account safe, you are allowed one self-service unlock per day.
- If your card is restricted a second time on the same day, the self-service option will turn off. Your card will then automatically reset and unlock the next day, or you can contact Customer Support if you need immediate assistance.
Are my other card transactions blocked if my CVC is locked?
- No. This security measure only restricts transactions that explicitly require a CVC verification (like online checkouts).
- Your physical card chip/PIN transactions and card freezing capabilities remain completely unaffected.
