Managing business spending across multiple currencies can get complicated fast. You may have suppliers in China invoicing in CNH, SaaS tools charging in USD and local expenses running in SGD. A multi-currency card can help by letting you pay directly from the currency balance held in your account, without converting on every transaction.
Two cards often compared for this in Singapore are the World Card by WorldFirst and the Wise Business card. Both are Mastercard-powered and both are linked to a multi-currency account that holds foreign currency balances. They differ on fees, supported currencies and how many cards a business can issue.
This guide compares the two on the features that matter most for business spending.
What is the World Card?
The World Card is a Mastercard-powered virtual business payment card linked to the World Account. It supports payments in 150+ currencies wherever Mastercard is accepted, including online, in-store and on Apple Pay and Google Pay.
When you pay in one of the 15 supported spending currencies and have a sufficient balance in that currency, card payments are processed without foreign exchange fees. When there is no matching balance, the required amount is converted from your available currency balances at competitive exchange rates.
The World Card is issued at no cost, and businesses can issue up to 20 virtual cards from a single account at no extra cost. Each card supports custom spending limits, real-time transaction tracking and instant freeze or cancellation through the WorldFirst dashboard or mobile app.
Cashback on eligible World Card spending is available, terms and conditions apply.
What is the Wise Business card?
The Wise Business card is a Mastercard-powered business debit card linked to the Wise Business account. It supports online and in-store payments in 40+ currencies across 160+ countries.¹
To get a Wise Business card, businesses need to open a Wise Business account, which comes with a one-time fee of S$99.² When you pay in a currency already held in the account, the card uses that balance directly.
Wise Business account holders can issue up to three digital cards at a time per user, alongside a physical card.³ To issue a new card beyond that, an existing card needs to be deleted and replaced.³
