1. Bol

Bol is the top online retailer in the Netherlands and Belgium, serving over 13.8 million customers in 2025 alone. It stocks over 51 million products, including clothing, books, homewares, games, cosmetics and pet supplies.

It’s free to set up product listings on Bol, and as a seller you’ll pay a fixed commission of €0.83 plus a variable percentage commission (based on your product category) per sale. For non-Dutch sellers, you will first need to apply for a Dutch VAT number before you can start selling on the platform.

Bol offers advertising packages that lets sellers promote their products on Bol’s online magazine sites, helping you reach a wider audience and boost sales for new listings. You can also integrate your existing WooCommerce or Shopify online store with just a few clicks, which syncs your catalogue and saves you time during setup.

Plus, if you need help getting started, Bol provides English-speaking support teams that can guide you through the process of setting up a seller account.

2. Wehkamp

Wehkamp is an online-only marketplace that sells everything from clothing to electronics to furniture and other homewares. It’s a household name, with 51% of Dutch families buying products from Wehkamp in 2021.

Since it’s an invite-only platform, there’s typically less competition and ‘price dumping’ than on fully open marketplaces. The customer base is made up of quality and style-conscious buyers, which suits brands that offer variety and innovative products, rather than just the lowest price.

Wehkamp doesn’t have an application portal, instead they reach out to brands directly with invitations. If you’re interested in working with them, the simplest way is to partner with an online marketing agency that’s experienced in working with independent Wehkamp sellers.

Wehkamp’s fee structure is different for every brand partner, so you’ll need to contact Wehkamp for more details.

3. Beslist

Beslist is a well-known online marketplace that has over 90 million products listed on their website, including books, automotive accessories, toys, games, personal care products and home appliances.

Many shoppers come to Beslist when they want to compare prices, and they factor in shipping costs, delivery time estimates and seller reviews. This is advantageous if you’re competitive on price, since you don’t need an established brand to be able to convert well. Beslist will send you detailed customer data, which you can then analyse for marketing purposes.

For sellers, there’s a platform fee of €25 per month per shop, and you’ll also pay a variable commission for each of your online sales. This commission is calculated using various performance models, which means you could choose between paying for traffic or only for actual orders. Your options are:

  • Cost Per Result
  • Cost Per Click
  • Cost Per Sale
  • Blended4a

To join Beslist as an e-commerce seller, you have to register via phone or email. Once signed up, you can access marketplace sales via a secure payment gateway like WorldFirst or PayPal.

As a 100% Dutch language site, if you’re an international seller, you may need to enlist the help of a translator if you’re looking to sell on Beslist. However, with its 10 million monthly site visitors, it’s definitely worth pursuing.

4. Coolblue

Founded in 1999, Coolblue specialises in consumer electronics and sells everything from lawnmowers to beard trimmers. The site’s main differentiator is that it offers white goods delivery (large household appliances like fridges and washing machines) and installation for a wide service area across several European countries.

Coolblue’s shoppers are loyal, which makes it a great platform to consider if you want to build a long-term brand presence. In 2023 their revenue surpassed €2,458 million, most of which came from recurring customers.

Coolblue doesn’t have a normal marketplace fee structure for sellers. Instead, you’ll have to speak to Coolblue’s buying team and decide together on the exact fee margin of your listings.

To become a seller on Coolblue, you can register your interest online and wait for a platform manager to contact you to set up a partnership. Once accepted, you can connect the marketplace’s API to your existing e-commerce storefront and manage inventory and payments from there.

How WorldFirst’s multi-currency account helps you sell to the Dutch market

Many Dutch marketplaces settle earnings exclusively in euros, which means you’ll often need an EU bank account in order to receive payouts. This is a major hurdle for UK businesses, since European banks usually require an EU business presence in order to open an account.

Luckily, you can open an EU business account with WorldFirst instead.

WorldFirst is not a bank, but a digital payments platform that helps global e-commerce sellers hold, send and receive payments like a local. Since 2004 we’ve helped over 1.5 million businesses send US$500 billion across the globe.

Our multi-currency World Account sets you up with a local EUR account, complete with local account details which you can use to apply to 130+ marketplaces worldwide. It’s entirely free to apply online, with no initial deposits, no monthly account fees and no business presence in the Netherlands required.

Here’s how signing up for a World Account makes it easier to sell to the Dutch market:

Integrate with 130+ marketplace platforms to automate your payouts

WorldFirst makes it easy for you to accept payments from 130+ marketplaces across the world. This includes all the marketplaces above, plus Amazon.nl, Etsy, eBay, TikTok Shop and more.

Once integrated, your funds will automatically deposit into your World Account as soon as you make a sale, which improves your cash flow since you don’t have to manually release funds. You can integrate with multiple marketplaces at once, with no fees attached.

Having all your funds flow into the same account also makes it much easier to reconcile your finances. You can match payouts to sales accurately without having to chase transactions across multiple accounts.

To make reconciliation even easier, you can also integrate with third-party accounting software like Xero or Quickbooks and automate the process.

Receive local euro account details and make same-day payments

WorldFirst lets you pay like a local by creating a dedicated EUR account within your World Account. This gives you EU account details of your own, including an IBAN, BIC, account number, and routing code, all separate from your main World Account details.

This allows your funds to be processed via domestic payment rails like iDEAL or SEPA, rather than the international SWIFT network. It speeds up your transfer by avoiding international wire delays, and it makes your transfer cheaper since it won’t be routed through intermediary banks.

With WorldFirst, 80% of payments are processed on the same day, and 90% are processed on the next.

Reduce FX risk when converting funds and benefit from low conversion costs

With WorldFirst, you can hold EUR and 20+ other currencies in your World Account for free. This allows you to wait until exchange rates are favourable before converting, and it also saves you money by avoiding unnecessary conversion fees.

For example, you could receive euros from a Bol payout and hold it in your EUR currency account – rather than having to immediately convert it to GBP. Then, when making a payment to a Polish supplier, your payment will draw directly from your existing currency balance, bypassing currency conversion entirely.

If you do want to convert your earnings between EUR and GBP, we add 0.5% onto the mid-market exchange rate so that you can benefit from low FX conversions. For all non-major currencies, our FX markup is capped at 0.75%.

Create up to 50 virtual cards to help separate your EUR and GBP balances

With all your payouts flowing into the same account, it can become hard to manage your spending.

That’s why WorldFirst lets you create up to 50 virtual cards – powered by Mastercard – that you can use to budget your expenditure. World Cards are virtual debit cards that you can assign cards to teams, marketplaces, vendors or even specific currencies like EUR and GBP.

All your cards can be managed from your World Account dashboard, so if you suspect a card has been compromised, you can freeze or delete it instantly. It’s useful when buying from new platforms that you aren’t familiar with, since you can simply sign up, make your payment, then immediately delete your virtual card to ensure no card data gets stolen.

Additionally, you’ll pay zero FX fees when you spend from an existing currency balance with your World Card.

How WorldFirst helped Bull Doza Fight Wear expand into Europe

Bull Doza Fight Wear is a UK-based fighting gear brand founded by Nathaniel Doza in 2021. The company sells boxing and martial arts equipment online, with a mission to be recognised for creating the world’s best professional punching bag at an affordable price.

As Bull Doza grew, Nathaniel wanted to expand worldwide and start selling on Amazon EU and US, only he kept encountering the same frustrating problem. His UK-based high street and neo-banking providers couldn’t offer local banking numbers, a prerequisite for selling on Amazon in America and Europe.

At WorldFirst, we were able to help.

With a World Account, Nathaniel was able to create local EUR and USD accounts, each with its own local account details. This allowed him to apply for Amazon and 130+ other marketplace platforms globally without running into any issues. He could also download a local account statement in seconds, making it easy to provide the required proof when setting up storefronts in new countries.

With WorldFirst’s support in entering new markets, Bull Doza Fight Wear has seen some pretty impressive results, including a three to six month reduction in new market launch times.

FAQs

What’s the top e-commerce site in the Netherlands for sellers?

The best e-commerce site in the Netherlands depends on what products your business sells and who your target audience is. If you compete primarily on price, then Beslist is likely best for you, whereas if you want to develop a luxury brand that sells high-quality products, Wehkamp is likely a better option.

How do I sign up for a Dutch e-commerce site?

Signing up for a Dutch e-commerce platform is usually straightforward. While each marketplace has its own onboarding process and verification requirements, in most cases you’ll need to provide:

  • Valid business details: This includes a company registration number as well as your tax information / VAT number
  • Proof of identity: The main account holder or director of your company will need to provide their ID
  • Product information: Include details about your listings, pricing and compliance information where required

It’s worth noting that many Dutch marketplaces only send payouts in EUR, which means in order to receive payments, you’ll need either an EU bank account, or a multi-currency business account like WorldFirst’s World Account.

How does a World Account make receiving Dutch marketplace payouts easier?

You can easily integrate your World Account with Dutch marketplaces (and 130+ other marketplaces worldwide), allowing you to receive payouts directly in euros as soon as you make a sale. This helps you collect and streamline your payouts from platforms like Bol, Wehkamp or Coolblue without you having to manually release your funds. It also improves your cash flow, since funds often arrive on the same-day and without any international transfer fees.
