Let’s break down the DBS VISA multi-currency card, one feature at a time
The DBS VISA multi-currency card is designed for personal use, but it may also be used by freelancers and sole proprietors who want to spend internationally.1 It allows cardholders to spend directly from supported foreign currency balances wherever VISA is accepted.1 But businesses should note that this is a personal card rather than a corporate card that comes with daily spending limits.
This review covers the card’s fees, features, supported currencies, cashback and how it compares with the World Card, a multi-currency card designed for businesses.
The DBS VISA debit card is a personal debit card linked to an eligible DBS deposit account (called the My Account). When linked to the DBS VISA multi-currency autosave account, it can access balances held in multiple currencies for overseas spending and ATM withdrawals. The debit card’s multi-currency feature supports spending in SGD and 11 foreign currencies such as USD, GBP, EUR, JPY, AUD and more.

When linked to the DBS Multi-Currency Autosave Account, the card can spend directly from available balances in USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, NZD, HKD, CAD, THB, NOK and SEK, along with SGD. Transactions are deducted from the matching currency wallet where sufficient funds are available, with zero foreign exchange fees on supported currencies. CNH is not supported for card spending.
Eligible purchases can earn up to 4% cashback across selected spending categories, including overseas purchases, subject to DBS eligibility requirements and terms.
The card supports VISA contactless payments, mobile wallet compatibility and SimplyGo for public transport. Users can also enable or disable contactless payments through DBS digibank.
The card is accepted wherever VISA is accepted worldwide and can also be used for overseas ATM withdrawals at a fee.
DBS provides payment controls through digibank, allowing users to temporarily lock the card, adjust spending limits, manage overseas usage and customise payment settings.
The World Card is a virtual Mastercard designed for businesses making international payments and managing business expenses across teams. It can be used for purchases in 150+ currencies wherever Mastercard is accepted. When you make payments in the 15 supported currencies, there are no FX fees, as long as you have sufficient funds in that currency.
Businesses can issue up to 20 virtual cards at no additional cost for employees, departments or different spending categories, with features such as real-time spending controls, transaction tracking, instant card freezing and cashback on eligible spending (terms and conditions apply). If a business has sufficient funds in the supported currency, payments made with the World Card are deducted directly from that currency balance without additional currency conversion fees.
Every World Card is linked to a World Account, which is a multi-currency account. The World Account allows businesses to hold balances in 20+ currencies, including SGD, USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, and more, providing the funds used for international card spending.
Beyond card spending, the World Account also supports a range of cross-border payment features: businesses can send payments in 100+ currencies across 200+ countries and regions, pay Chinese suppliers on 1688.com through World Pay, the authorised international payment provider for 1688.com, and use forward contracts to help manage exchange rate risk on future international payments.
