A closer look at the UOB business debit card for businesses in Singapore
The UOB debit card is a business payment card issued by the United Overseas Bank for users with an eligible UOB business or corporate current account in Singapore. The card carries an annual fee of S$36.67, although this is waived for the first three years.
This review explains the card’s key features, cashback programme, fees, eligibility requirements and international spending capabilities. It also compares the UOB business debit card with the World Card, a multi-currency card linked to a multi-currency account.
The UOB business debit card is a Mastercard-powered payment card linked to a business bank account by UOB. Businesses can use it for everyday purchases, online payments and overseas spending wherever Mastercard is accepted.
The card is not a multi-currency card, meaning it does not allow businesses to hold or spend directly from balances in multiple currencies.

Businesses can spend directly from their linked SGD business account, with purchases directly deducted from available account balances. The card offers up to 1.5% cashback on local spending, subject to qualifying criteria. Cashback rates vary based on monthly spend, with additional promotional cashback available for new customers during eligible campaigns (terms and conditions apply).
The card supports contactless payments and can be added to the UOB mobile wallet for tap-and-pay transactions.1Businesses can also manage card accounts and transactions through UOB’s digital card services.
As a Mastercard debit card, it can be used wherever Mastercard is accepted worldwide. UOB states that eligible overseas card purchases do not incur foreign exchange (FX) fees. But, as the card is linked to an SGD account, transactions in foreign currencies are directly converted to SGD for settlement. Hence, a 1% international processing fee applies to transactions charged in SGD and processed outside Singapore.
The World Card is a virtual card linked to the World Account, a multi-currency account from WorldFirst. Businesses can use the World Card to make payments in 150+ currencies wherever Mastercard is accepted. Instead of converting every international purchase back to a single currency, the World Card uses the matching currency balance in the linked World Account whenever available. This helps businesses avoid currency conversion fees on the 20+ supported currencies.
Businesses can create up to 20 multi-currency cards at no additional cost to organise company spending. The card also offers flexible spending controls, real-time transaction tracking, and cashback on eligible purchases (terms and conditions apply).
