3. Grey

Grey offers personal accounts across Nigeria, Morocco, Kenya and Ghana, while its business account is currently available in Nigeria.11,12,13,14 Personal users can receive, send and exchange international payments, with supported currencies and capabilities varying by country.12,13,14 Business users in Nigeria receive USD account details and can manage bulk payouts, team spending controls and business payments.11

Grey also provides prepaid virtual VISA and Mastercard cards for personal and business users.15 There is no monthly account fee, but receiving transfers can incur fixed or percentage-based charges starting at 0.8%, and virtual card creation costs US$4 for Mastercard or US$5 for VISA.16,17 Moroccan users also have limited control over conversion because incoming EUR and GBP funds are automatically converted to Moroccan Dirhams.14

4. Chipper Cash

Chipper Cash offers personal and business accounts in Nigeria and Ghana.19,20 Business accounts include the features available to personal users, including USD virtual accounts and USD virtual cards, alongside higher transaction limits and priority support.19,20 Businesses can use USD virtual accounts to receive payments, although support for holding multiple foreign currencies is not clearly specified on the website.19 The Chipper Card is available as a virtual USD card and costs US$5 to issue plus US$1 per month.21

Pricing: Personal USD virtual accounts charge 0.75% for ACH receipts and US$25 for incoming wires.22 Business accounts have zero opening and monthly fees23

5. Wise

Wise provides personal accounts in Nigeria, Morocco, Kenya and Ghana for international transfers, while Wise Business is currently available in Kenya.24,25 Wise Business allows Kenyan businesses to send international payments, convert currencies and use business features such as batch payments, accounting integrations, team controls and volume discounts.25

Transfers can be made individually or to up to 1,000 contacts through batch payments.25 Wise accounts in these African markets are send-only, so businesses looking for local receiving account details to receive funds may want to look for Wise alternatives.25 Wise also does not currently offer virtual cards in the African markets covered here.
