We’ve seen for ourselves how major sporting events can boost an economy. Our own economy was boosted by the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and the Cricket World Cup earlier this year, and not the UK is set to benefit from hosting the latest Rugby World Cup.

Australia’s campaign is up and running with yesterday’s win over Fiji (though no fourth try meant no bonus point), and are amongst the possible winners of the whole tournament.
