Learn how to start selling on Amazon internationally from Malaysia and expand your e-commerce store
Amazon’s Global Selling programme gives Malaysian businesses access to international marketplaces, including the US, Singapore and Europe. The platform now has more than 2.5 million active sellers worldwide, with over 55,000 independent sellers surpassing US$1 million in annual sales in 2024. This guide explains how to sell on Amazon US from Malaysia, choose the right marketplace, manage fulfillment and receive international payouts.
Yes. Although Amazon does not currently operate a dedicated Malaysia marketplace, Malaysian businesses can register on overseas Amazon marketplaces through Amazon’s Global Selling programme. This allows businesses to sell to customers in markets such as the United States, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Germany, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Amazon also delivers selected products to customers in Malaysia through marketplaces such as Amazon US and Amazon Singapore, although product availability and shipping options vary by seller and destination.
Amazon US is one of Amazon’s largest marketplace, with US$830 billion in goods sold by Amazon and its sellers in 2025. Sellers list products in USD and can fulfill orders using Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) or ship directly from Malaysia using seller fulfillment.
Businesses selling on Amazon US must complete Amazon’s US tax interview during registration. Malaysian businesses typically need to submit tax information, such as a Form W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E, to certify their non-US tax status.
Amazon Singapore is geographically the closest major Amazon market for Malaysian sellers. Products are listed in SGD, while shorter shipping distances can help reduce delivery times for seller-fulfilled orders.
Amazon accounts for approximately US$400 million, or around 6% of Singapore’s e-commerce market. Sellers register through Amazon Seller Central Singapore and can also use Fulfilment by Amazon Singapore where available.
Amazon UAE and Amazon Saudi Arabia provide access to growing e-commerce markets across the Middle East. Amazon UAE continues to gain traction, attracting more than 27 million visits in May 2025 and generating nearly US$770 million in sales in 2024.
Amazon UK and European marketplaces, including Germany, France, Italy and Spain, give sellers access to customers across Europe. Amazon generated US$45.9 billion in Germany and US$43.2 billion in the UK in 2025. Local VAT, product safety and packaging requirements are also important to track.
Choose the Amazon marketplace where you want to sell, such as Amazon US and create a Seller Central account. You’ll need to provide your business details, identity documents, bank account information and payment details.
Once your account is verified, you can start creating listings and manage orders, inventory and business performance from the Seller Central dashboard.
Select the selling plan that matches your expected sales volume. Businesses expecting higher order volumes may benefit from a professional plan costing US$39.99 per month, while lower-volume sellers can start with an individual plan starting at US$0.99 per item sold.
Decide what products you want to sell. You can manufacture products in Malaysia, source from local wholesalers or import from overseas suppliers through platforms such as Alibaba, 1688.com and AliExpress.
Before placing large orders, compare suppliers based on product quality, minimum order quantities, production capacity, shipping lead times and quality control. Many new sellers start with smaller orders to test demand.
Build listings that meet your target marketplace’s requirements. Include keyword-optimised titles, accurate descriptions, high-quality images and complete product specifications. Some product categories like automotive, beauty, jewellery and more may require additional approval before you can sell.
You can fulfil orders through Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA), where Amazon stores, packs and ships your products, Fulfilment by Merchant (FBM), where you ship directly from Malaysia, or use a hybrid approach that combines both methods.
If you use FBM, you’ll need to organise cross-border shipping. Many sellers work with international couriers such as DHL, FedEx, UPS or SF Express, while others use freight forwarders or local delivery partners in the destination market.
Amazon pays Malaysian sellers in USD for eligible marketplace payouts. Malaysian businesses selling on Amazon can receive these payouts in three ways:
Businesses selling on Amazon or paying overseas suppliers can use a multi-currency account to hold USD balances until they are needed for international payments, helping avoid unnecessary currency conversions.
Managing payments is an important part of selling internationally, especially for businesses collecting revenue in one currency while paying suppliers and logistics partners in another.
The World Account by WorldFirst is a multi-currency account built for businesses managing international trade. Malaysian businesses selling on e-commerce marketplaces like Amazon US and other overseas Amazon marketplaces can open a local USD receiving account and add those local currency account details to Amazon Seller Central to receive USD payouts.
USD payouts received into the World Account can be held without automatic conversion to MYR. Businesses can then use those USD balances to pay overseas suppliers, manufacturers, logistics providers, marketing agencies and other international business expenses.
Businesses selling through multiple online sales channels can also collect payouts from 130+ marketplaces and payment gateways, including Etsy and Shopify. For businesses sourcing products from China, World Pay is the authorised international payment provider for 1688.com, allowing suppliers to be paid directly from the World Account.
Many businesses consider Amazon US because of its large customer base or Amazon Singapore because of its proximity to Malaysia. The appropriate marketplace depends on the products being sold and the target customers.
Yes. Malaysian businesses can use Fulfilment by Amazon in eligible marketplaces where the service is available.
Amazon pays sellers in the marketplace’s local currency. Businesses can receive international payments through a Malaysian bank account after conversion, a foreign currency account, or a multi-currency account that supports the relevant currency.
