Carousell Seller Fees in Malaysia: Complete Guide

Selling on Carousell Malaysia can cost nothing, or it can come with listing, service, platform and delivery fees. It all depends on what you sell and how.

Here’s what each fee costs, when it applies and how to keep more of each sale

Key Takeaways

  • Carousell doesn’t charge every Malaysian seller a standard percentage-based selling fee.
  • Your fees can depend on various factors like your account type, product category and selling method.
  • Some categories cap your free listings. Go over the limit and you’ll be required to pay for more.
  • Beauty & Personal Care sellers may pay platform fees on eligible Buy button sales.
  • Promotion, delivery, sourcing and currency costs can also affect your final profit.

Carousell Seller Fees in Malaysia: What You’ll Pay in 2026

What is Carousell?

Carousell is an online marketplace where individuals and businesses in Malaysia buy and sell new and second-hand goods and services.

New to it? Start with our guide on how to sell on Carousell in Malaysia.

Is it Free to Sell on Carousell Malaysia?

Carousell doesn’t charge every Malaysian seller a commission on every sale, but selling isn’t always free. Your fees depend on your account type, product category, and whether your buyers can purchase your products through the Buy button or arrange a sale through Chat.

You may need to pay for additional listings once you use up your category’s free allowance. Beauty & Personal Care sales through the Buy button may attract a seller platform fee, while eligible Professional accounts may pay a separate service fee on Chat transactions.

To see whether you can sell on Carousell for free, check your account type. If you occasionally sell things you no longer use, a Personal account is for you. If you regularly sell new stock, offer multiple units of the same product, take pre-orders, provide services, or buy items to resell, a Professional account is more appropriate for you.

Carousell may also change your account to Professional based on how you sell and its eligibility rules. So, if you start using a Personal account to run a business, check the terms to understand which account rules and fees apply.

What Fees Does Carousell Charge Sellers?

Carousell Malaysia’s seller fees depend on your account type, product category and selling activity. Your costs may include Professional Account Service Fees, category-specific platform fees, extra listing quota and optional subscriptions or promotions.

Professional Account Service Fees

Professional accounts get a seller badge, search and competitor insights and bulk listing tools. However, with those comes the service fee.

Eligible Professional accounts may pay a 2.5% service fee on each transaction, capped at RM50 per transaction. The fee applies when Carousell’s eligibility conditions are met, based on estimated revenue and activity. Professional accounts with an eligible sales package are exempt from the service fee. CarouBiz isn’t the same as a sales package.

Carousell offsets the monthly service fee with eligible spending on CarouBiz, Coins, seller tools and quotas incurred during the same month. These expenses can partially or fully reduce your total service fee.

Some CarouBiz plans may provide an additional discount after eligible spending is offset. Check the current plan terms before applying a discount in your calculation. Assuming the RM60 qualifies as eligible spending, a RM100 service fee would be reduced to RM40. If the seller also qualifies for a 20% subscription discount, the discount would reduce the amount by RM8, leaving a final service fee of RM32.

A Professional account, a CarouBiz subscription and a sales package serve different purposes, which we outline in the table below:

Options  What it does Service-fee treatment
Professional account An account for businesses, service providers, and frequent sellers Applies when eligibility conditions are met
CarouBiz An optional subscription that offers premium selling tools Doesn’t automatically exempt you from service fees, but an eligible subscription can reduce the amount you owe.
Sales package A customised subscription purchased from Carousell’s sales team tailored for a business’s selling needs Eligible professional accounts are exempt.

Carousell estimates revenue from completed transactions and other activity specified in its service-fee policy, which may include outbound chats, SMS and calls.

Note: Carousell excludes certain categories and subcategories from the Professional service-fee policy, including Home Services, Business Services, Lifestyle Services, Learning & Enrichment, Jobs, Property, Cars and selected vehicle-related categories. Check the latest policy for the complete list.

Beauty & Personal Care Platform Fees

If you sell Beauty & Personal Care products, Carousell deducts a 5% platform fee from each successful sale made through your listing’s Buy button. It then adds the remaining earnings to your Carousell balance. For example, selling an item for RM100 leaves you with RM95 before any other deductions.

You can preview this deduction in your listing’s Price section and check the final breakdown on the Order Details page once the sale is complete.

If you have an active Carousell Sales Assisted package, Carousell waives this fee. The platform’s seller fee page doesn’t list a standard CarouBiz subscription as qualifying for the same waiver.

CarouBiz Subscriptions and Paid Promotions

Depending on your CarouBiz plan, you can use automated replies to respond to buyers, add videos to your listings, organise products into custom collections, and access promotional tools.

Monthly plans start at RM30 through the app or RM29 on the web. If you choose an annual plan, prices start at RM329.90 through the app or RM313 on the web. Annual plans include Carousell Coins valid for one year, which you can spend on listing promotions and additional listings.

Before paying, check your final checkout total to see how much you’ll spend, including any applicable tax.

Is listing free on Carousell Malaysia?

Carousell Malaysia lets you list a limited number of items for free in selected categories. This allowance is your “listing quota”. Your category determines how many free listings you get, when your allowance resets, and how long your listings stay active. These limits can change, so check them before adding new listings.

Carousell says the quota system aims to reduce spam and encourage quality listings, helping sellers get fairer visibility and buyers find what they need. If you use up your free allowance, you can buy additional quota or wait for it to reset.

For Property and Autos categories covered by Carousell’s policy, free quota becomes available again 60 days after you use it, while paid listings expire after 60 days. You can pay for additional listings with Carousell Coins. To renew a listing, you’ll need unused quota or must pay the applicable fee.

SPX Express

This is available to sellers in West Malaysia for supported routes, including deliveries to West and East Malaysia.

Pos Laju

If SPX Express is available and you choose Pos Laju instead, Carousell currently deducts an additional RM2.60 from your earnings. The amount may change.

Arranged courier

With a seller-arranged courier, you can absorb the delivery cost or add a custom shipping fee in the shipping-fee field. Don’t include it in the item price.

Buyer platform fees

Buyer platform fees are added to your customer’s checkout total. They vary by payment method and listing type. Buyer fees are separate from any seller fees Carousell deducts from your earnings.

For example, on Buyer Protection listings, buyers pay 5% by FPX or GrabPay, or 6.5% by card. Certified listings are free by FPX or GrabPay, or 1.5% by card. Fees are correct as of 28th September 2026.

How Can Malaysian SMEs Reduce Their Selling Costs?

Your selling costs can add up fast, from listing fees to payments to overseas suppliers. Follow these tips to manage your selling costs and keep more of what you earn on Carousell.

Set a promotion budget

A promotion budget helps you reach buyers while controlling costs and protecting your profit margin. Set a monthly cap for paid promotion and monitor the profit they generate. Stop promoting what doesn’t cover its costs and direct your budget towards listings that drive profitable sales.

For example, if you earn RM20 per sale before advertising, a RM60 promotion needs to generate three additional sales just to cover its cost. Improve your photos, listing descriptions, and pricing before spending more on visibility.

Plan around your listing quota

Planning helps you make the most of your free listing allowance and avoid unnecessary fees. Check your category’s free allowance and refresh date before buying additional quota.

Paying to list more products only makes sense if the expected return justifies the expense. Prioritise products you expect to sell, and schedule less urgent listings after your allowance refreshes.

Choose a cost-effective delivery method

With Carousell Official Delivery, buyers pay shipping at checkout, so you don’t need to absorb the standard delivery cost. Where SPX Express is available, choose it instead of Pos Laju to avoid the additional RM2.60 deduction from your earnings.

If you arrange your own courier, compare quotes for the same parcel size, weight, and destination to find the lowest rate that meets your delivery needs.
