For freelancers and global businesses in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, there are three major multi-currency accounts available: WorldFirst, Wise and Payoneer.

But while on the surface, they seem quite similar, they differ a lot in terms of their features and fees.

This article breaks down WorldFirst, Wise and Payoneer side by side, covering how their fees compare, what features they offer, and where the differences matter the most to businesses.

What is WorldFirst?

WorldFirst is an international payments provider that helps businesses and freelancers manage cross-border payments. The World Account, its core product, is a multi-currency business account that supports 15+ major currencies including USD, GBP, EUR, CNH, AUD and NZD.

Through the World Account, users can set up virtual local currency accounts, collect payments from 130+ global marketplaces and payment gateways, send funds in 100+ currencies across 200+ countries and regions, and spend using a multi-currency business payment card linked to their existing balances.

What is Wise?

Wise is a global payment provider that offers separate personal and business accounts for international payments.¹

Wise Business is available in India on a receive-only basis, supporting 8+ local currencies including USD, GBP and EUR, but with no functionality to send or hold funds.²

In Pakistan and Bangladesh, Wise Business is not available at all–only personal accounts are supported in these markets. These accounts can be used to send money abroad but cannot receive funds locally.¹

There is also no Wise card available in South Asia.

What is Payoneer?

Payoneer is a digital payment provider that supports both individual and business accounts, with the available account types and features varying by market.³ Through Payoneer’s multi-currency business account, users can setup 10+ local currency accounts6, collect payments from clients, marketplaces and freelance platforms using local receiving account details.

Payoneer offers a Mastercard-powered card in eligible markets, with each card linked to a single currency, meaning users spending in multiple currencies need separate cards for each.⁴

WorldFirst, Wise or Payoneer: Which account suits your business?

The right choice between WorldFirst, Wise and Payoneer depends on what your business or freelance work actually needs from a multi-currency account.
