Join WorldFirst and Jeremy Cook at our upcoming webinar counting down to Brexit and the impact on the retail sector.

The UK economy is a retail economy and as much as Napoleon’s quip about the UK being a nation of shopkeepers was meant to be an insult, Brits have lived up to the stereotype.  Retail is one of the most integrated and important sectors of the UK economy generating over £94.8 billion in 2016.

However, with Brexit a year away, rising costs coupled with a fall in consumer spending has shocked the sector in recent months and the fall out has been significant. The landscape for selling has changed drastically over the past few years and we are seeing some of the biggest stalwarts of UK retail like Toys R Us and Maplin fall by the wayside.

What does the next year hold for retail? What impact could Brexit have for businesses who rely on imports from the continent or sell to customers abroad? In our upcoming webinar, hosted by WorldFirst’s Chief Economist, Jeremy Cook,  we will take a look at the year ahead for retail, looking at the seismic shifts affecting the sector from Brexit to  currency movements, inflation, consumer spending and the move from the high street to the iStreet. Join us on March 28th at 2pm GMT for our take on what’s next for the retail sector.
