Two-factor authentication for WorldFirst
Enhanced security is just around the corner
We’re making your WorldFirst online account even more secure with two-factor authentication (2FA).
What is two-factor authentication (2FA)?
It means using more than one method to verify your identity when carrying out certain actions online, such as accessing your account.
With 2FA you have to use two of three forms of verification when logging in. These methods can include:
- Something you have - e.g. a device with a code, like a mobile phone
- Something you know - e.g. a password, or security question
- Something you are - e.g. your fingerprint, or other biometric signatures
Why is it important?
2FA or Multifactor Authentication (MFA) increases the general security of your account, reduces the possibility of fraudulent activity being undertaken on your behalf and your account being compromised by phishing attempts of malware.
We’re introducing 2FA as an extra layer of security for your WorldFirst account, to help ensure that you’re the only person who can access your account.
What will I need to do?
We’ll ask for your username and password as normal, but we’ll also send a text message to your registered cell phone number containing a 6-digit code. You’ll need to enter this code to access your account.
This will happen each time you need to login to your account.
When is this all happening?
Security is our priority, so starting in May 2018 we’ll be rolling this feature out in phases to all accounts. We’ll be in touch when the benefits of 2FA are scheduled to be brought to your account.
What if I use the WorldFirst App?
We’re working on a way to authenticate via our app. This will be available later on in 2018.
