To start with, you’ll need to register for an account with us using this form. Our Client Relations team will then get in touch to get your account ready to trade. Once your World Account is live you’ll have access to accounts in GBP, USD, EUR, CAD, JPY, AUD, SGD, NZD, HKD & CNH to use to start receiving funds in and making payments out to suppliers. And best of all, you’ll be able to see all your balances across all your currency accounts from the home screen of your World Account.
The currency accounts that you have access to via World Account work similar to bank account and so in order to make a payment out from one of your currency accounts, you’ll need to have sufficient funds in order to cover the payment in full. But as you can instantly move funds between your currency accounts or top-up your accounts from a domestic bank account, getting the funds in the right place is only ever a few taps or clicks away.
Payment times vary by currency and destination but, as a rule, we would expect GBP, EUR and USD to land with the person or organisation you are paying the next day. Sending USD to the Far East should credit the next working day and all other currencies/locations should take between 1 and 4 working days. More often than not it is more likely to be 1 to 2 working days but we ask that you allow up to 4 working days.
There is no fee to open or hold a World Account. The way WorldFirst operates as a business means we make a small profit from the difference between the rate that we buy your currency at and the rate that we sell that currency to you – this is known as a ‘spread’. Because we buy currency in large volumes, we are able to access exchange rates that are not generally available to our clients but we are still able to then offer an exchange rate to our clients that is generally better than available from a traditional bank. With the World Account there may also be a small charge for same currency payments – i.e. GBP to GBP – but you should contact your Account Manager for more information.
