Dr Paola Subacchi: Chatham House

Trade is important

The rise in nationalism and populism means that trade will become increasingly important, says Dr Paola Subacchi, from international think tank Chatham House.

The director of the organisation’s International Economics Department says in the groundbreaking report The Magnificent Se7en: The seven unavoidable global trends facing your business today  that globalisation is being identified with immigration that is driving protectionist sentiment.

Subacchi is one of five experts to talk exclusively with World First about the trends that could impact your business in the coming months, looking more closely at the currency exchange market and the economy. Others include: economics expert Stephanie Flanders, Linda Yueh from London Business School, Re-Define’s Sony Kapoor and Fiona Greiner from Matchesfashion.com.
