WorldFirst has launched the new, localised brand name of 万里汇WorldFirst (wan-li-way) in mainland China. The new name, which translates into English as “transfers, even miles away” showcases our commitment to the China market and is an important step in our evolution.
This launch signals our continued support for trade growth between East and West and offers our Chinese customers a clear indication of our mission to make it faster, and cheaper for people and businesses to manage their money around the world.
万里汇WorldFirst, which will only be launched in mainland China, follows the successful launch of our World Account in China. Our multi-currency platform allows businesses to make and receive payments in local currencies for at a lower cost than the traditional institutions.
WorldFirst has been supporting businesses in China since 2008, with $4.5bn transferred back to China in 2017 alone. Alongside the launch of our new brand name, we are also proud to announce plans to open new offices in Shanghai, Zhengzhou and Jinan. These plans will involve the addition of new hires to our China team and demonstrates our continued investment in the growth of China’s business population.
Jeff Parker, Managing Director APAC at WorldFirst, commented:
“The launch of the WorldFirst name is an important milestone for our business and a really strong demonstration of our commitment to China. We’ve already helped more than 50,000 customers in China and we’re excited at the prospect of helping many, many more. Our mission now is to go further to help not just businesses in China but businesses around the world who want to do business with China.
We’re confident the name will resonate strongly with our Chinese customers, whilst also providing a clearer indication of the services we provide. This is a really exciting time for us and we’re proud to be playing a key part in supporting growing trade between east and west.”
