Later this month World First will host the inaugural Online Seller Cellar in Manchester where we will bring together and celebrate online exporters and marketplace sellers from the North-West.

We’re delighted to announce our partners for the event: the Department for International Trade Pivot Commerce and We Are Pentagon. eCommerce experts Neil Tunbridge of Pivot, Jonathan Naughton of Pentagon and Joseph Darwen of the Department for International Trade will explore why Manchester is seeing its online economy boom and what online sellers can do to grow internationally.

Neil Tunbridge, Director and Co-Founder of Pivot Commerce commented:

“Brands and products from the UK have always held a global appeal and demand has increased over the past 12-18 months as the currency has devalued and products have become cheaper. Added to this is the Government’s focus on the Northern Powerhouse, with the North-West being its retail driving force. World First are at the forefront of helping to breakdown eCommerce borders and it’s our pleasure to be asked to participate in this event, which should be a fantastic evening of knowledge sharing and discussion.

Joseph Darwen, International Digital Trade Advisor, North West Trade Team from the Department for International Trade remarked:

“Online selling is fast becoming the preferred route to market for many UK retailers and brands looking to export, with online marketplaces and ecommerce providing low cost market entry, access to millions of global consumers, and multiple channels to successfully grow their business through online cross border trade. DIT North West is pleased to support World First’s Online Seller event in Manchester, and engage with the exciting brands, retailers and companies across the region.”

And Jonathan Naughton, Head of Fashion Acquisition at We Are Pentagon added:

“British brands are continuing to look outside of their local neighbourhoods to reach new customers, who they can turn into loyal brand ambassadors. Manchester continues to be a hub for exciting, innovative and driven retailers, determined to make their mark on the eCommerce scene, both locally and globally; so it is the perfect setting to showcase an evening of excellence in the field. Pentagon are delighted to be taking part in the first Online Seller Cellar.”

We will also be meeting two local online businesses who have achieved international success with their UK brands, Swifty Scooters and Wake Drinks.  At World First we call these types of businesses mini-multinationals and we believe that the entrepreneurs behind these brands can offer some great advice and practical tips for other online sellers looking to go global. You can find out more about our event speakers here.

There has never been a better time for online sellers in Manchester to consider cross-border selling, as recent research revealed that the North-West accounts for a fifth of all online exports with Greater Manchester making up 13% of the UK’s total.
