How they work
The World First MasterCard® Prepaid Currency Card can be used in shops and restaurants and to withdraw cash. The money is deducted from your balance each time you spend or take money out of a cash point.
You can keep tabs on your spending by checking your balance – free of charge - by logging on to cards.worldfirst.com.
You can also check your balance via SMS, but there is a small charge of €0.20 or $0.25 plus your standard network rate to do this.
It’s a practical way to take money abroad – and we make sure you get great exchange rates.
CHIP and PIN
There’s CHIP and PIN security and you can load your Currency Card up online by debit card, or you can send your sterling to us via bank transfer.
You can load your Currency Card in the following ways:
- Log on to the website and load your card using your UK debit card.
- Contact us and let us know that you want to load your card via bank transfer. We'll credit your card when the transfer reaches our bank account (up to 3 working days). We'll use the exchange rate at the time.
When you load your card online, your money is usually available to spend two hours later.
